Hutchinson Zoo is Now Open to the Public

We are now open!

We are excited to announce the Hutchinson Zoo is re-opening on Thursday, May 21! We will be back with our normal operating hours from 10am-4:45pm.

Your visit at this time will look different than usual in order to keep our visitors, animals, and staff safe and so we may follow current county and state reopening guidelines.

Gift Shop merchandise and concessions will be available through the window near the entrance, but zoo buildings, train rides, prairie dog tunnels, and playgrounds will remain closed until a later date. Additionally, several parts of the zoo are under various forms of construction which may temporarily restrict other areas.

We have increased our cleaning schedule and sanitizer stations have been placed throughout high touch areas of the zoo.

During your visit we encourage you to wear a mask, maintain at least 6 feet of distance from other groups, and keep your own group size within the gathering limit of 10 or fewer individuals. Staff will be monitoring the number of guests in zoo and we will reserve the right to temporarily restrict new guests coming in until others leave if necessary to allow for safe distancing.

As an additional courtesy, the zoo will open an hour earlier than normal, from 9-10 AM, for high risk individuals. Masks will be required of visitors during this time.

We are excited to have you back!
